Did the installation of the system go to the default locations?Ĥ. Do you have a project that crashes and will not compile, or is the major issue with hovering -> crashing?ģ. When you compile a new project successfully, can you create a TIA Portal crash by hovering while in that project? If so, maybe your _mouse_ driver is wonky (or acting contrary to standard mouse motions).Ģ.
Here's a few questions I'm not clear on though.ġ. SP2 added some instructions, and the HSPs added items as well. Maybe reapply SP2 and add the hardware support packs again. This is a painful process, but within an hour you should have your project compiled and ready to load. To copy, open two copies of TIA Portal, one with your crash-prone project, and the other will be your new fresh project that doesn't crash when you compile. When you are unable to copy, you will have found the piece of your project causing the problem. If you simply cannot compile even the PLC tags, you may need to copy the contents of your project to a new project a piece at a time. In that process, you may crash often, so save your project after every successful compile. Then recompile your HMI tags and then your HMI project. If you can recompile your PLC tags, then your FCs & FBs, you should be able to recompile the entire PLC project. I am fairly certain something is corrupted in your project. Has anyone seen this problem, and, more importantly, is there a solution that may be recommended? Thank you for whatever good advice you offer. This I did, but there is no change in the behaviour of the application.
I called tech support earlier today, and the individual with whom I spoke suggested that I should probably uninstall and then reinstall TIA Portal.
Once this happens, the popup display appears, and I can no longer interact with the software until I restart it.įor whatever it may be worth, I've not yet seen this happen whilst working with items listed in the project tree. After 4 or 5 seconds, the cursor briefly switches from the usual pointer arrow to a pointer-hourglass cursor, and then back again. I don't have to even click on the object.
Once I have selected the project view and opened some window such as the Devices and Networks page, an HMI visualization screen, or even simply the Diagnostics tab along the bottom of the application's display, I need only let my mouse hover for a few seconds over some interactive content (pushbutton, column header, basic objects visualization toolbox, etc.) on any of the mentioned windows. I can get this crash to occur without doing much at all. Would you like to restart the application?Īnd then I have the corresponding buttons available at the bottom of this popup box. The application has encountered a problem and needs to close.
